Nautilus Group Inc. began its operations in the year 1988 with the sale of specialized sleep mattresses. Following this it expanded its line of products to the area of fitness related products and quickly captured the market share in the exercise and fitness equipment section in the retail and the commercial segment. Nautilus equipment is sold under its own name as well as Bowflex, Stairmaster, Trimline, Schwinn and Treadmaster. The three primary categories of Nautilus equipment consists of products for strength training, cardio and fitness accessories.

Nautilus fitness equipment for strength training includes free weights and home gyms such as the Freedom Trainer. In the free weight strength training Nautilus Smith machine offers 9 adjustable weight bars with racking pegs. The weight bars counterbalanced at 10 lbs fit different benches and users.
